Dexter Free Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes 09/14/2020

Present:  Jennifer,  Linda, Marcia, Jean, Liz, Amy and Sabrina

Excused: Rebecca Hall

Jennifer called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm

Treasurer’s report:  Was emailed to everyone.

Director’s report – Jennifer reviewed the past 3 months for visitation and activities at the library.

NCLS will increase cost of Overdrive services due to reduction/lack of current funding. Each library pays $50.00 annual flat fee for their services including total circulation at this time. Libraries voted to increase this to $100.00. A 12% increase will be incurred this year.  Overdrive cost to us was $ 347.38 this year. Next year’s cost predicted to be $348.00. Will most likely be looking at another increase next year. NCLS advised they haven’t been charging enough in past years for sharing circulation fee.

Concern over new books lending to other libraries/non-patrons of individual smaller libraries. Some libraries wish to hold new books longer for their dedicated patrons rather than being immediately requested to lend books out.

Jennifer proposed the library go to Standard Hours year round as there hasn’t been activity during evening hours. As follows:

Tuesday –10:00 am to 6:00 pm      Designated Senior hours 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

12:00 pm to 6:00 pm for all

Wednesday – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Thursday – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Saturday – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Marcia made motion to accept new hours and Sabrina seconded it.
